Day 1 Ho Chi Minh - Arrival
Welcome by our guide at the airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Formerly known as Saigon, this city is the biggest one in Vietnam, offering tourists exhilarating kicks on every sense. Considered by locals as “sleepless city”, the city center area is bustling in the day time and even more lively at night. Night life in Ho Chi Minh city is an inviting paradise for whom who love bars and parties. This city is currently ranked as the second most dynamic city in the world based on factors that contribute to long-term economic growth such as innovation, inspiration, investment and infrastructure.
Check in your hotel and overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
Day 2 Ho Chi Minh (morning Cu Chi trip, afternoon city tour)
Morning:
Explore the underground Cu Chi Tunnels, a historic battlefield from the Indochina War located on the outskirts of the city. Upon arrival, descend into the subterranean world of tunnels stretching over 200 kilometers. These tunnels, with a width of 70 cm and a height of 90 cm, lead to various meeting rooms, kitchens, and even hospitals.
At noon, you'll enjoy a local restaurant lunch before returning to Ho Chi Minh City.
Afternoon:
- Keep your energy up as you embark on a half-day city tour, visiting the city's must-see attractions.
- Your first stop is the Independence Palace, where the Vietnamese Revolutionary Army achieved victory in 1975.
- Your next destination is Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. These landmarks are prime examples of French architecture in the city.
- Continue your tour with a visit to the War Remnants Museum, which provides insights into the First Indochina War and the Vietnam War. The museum showcases compelling visuals depicting the futility and devastating effects of the conflicts.
- As the sightseeing tour concludes, you will be dropped off at your hotel, giving you the freedom to explore the city at night.
NOTE: The Notre Dame Cathedral is currently undergoing renovations until 2027. You may be taken to visit the surrounding areas, such as the street book.
Day 3 Ho Chi Minh - Ben Tre - Vinh Long
Departure for the Mekong Delta, a half-land, half-aquatic territory in the far south of the country.
Arrival at Ben Tre, the large town located in the heart of the northern arms of the river. Boat trip on the rivers to reach Mo Cay, a small rural region with little tourism, well known for its coconut trade and the manufacturing of coconut products: coconut, coconut thread, activated coconut carbon, etc.
Bike ride or Xe loi (motorized cycle) on the green island abundantly covered with coconut plantations. The route, away from mass tourism, takes you along small paths, under the shade of coconut trees, which offer a particularly poetic landscape. Stop at farms to observe the manufacture of sweets and coconut brooms.
Continue with a trip in a small rowing boat through the arroyos surrounded by water palm trees, to immerse yourself in the daily life of the delta. Visit to Mr. Van's traditional house, tasting of local specialties made by his wife: coconut jam, tea with honey and pollen... and great encounters with the local population.
Afternoon, transfer to Vinh Long and arrive at the island of An Binh (“peace”) located in the middle of the Mekong. Installation at Mme Thuy’s, a peaceful guest house with a beautiful garden. Free time to relax in a very calm and relaxing environment.
In the evening, participate in the preparation of the meal then have dinner with your creations.
Day 4 Can Tho - Chau Doc
After breakfast, board a boat for a trip on the Mekong. Visit the Cai Rang floating market, which is spectacular with its vibrant colors and the assembly of numerous boats loaded with fruits, vegetables, and various other goods. Discover the unique 'river trade' of the Mekong region's inhabitants.
Disembark to reach Chau Doc, a small town located in the far west of the Mekong Delta, very close to the Cambodian border. Upon arrival, take a boat trip on the Bassac River, a tributary of the great river, and explore floating fish farms. Learn about cage breeding of Asian catfish and visit Muslim villages of the Cham minorities.
Experience the twilight spectacle from Mount Sam, the unusual and distinctive hill in the delta, where you'll find the sacred Ba Chua Xu temple.
Spend the night at the hotel

Day dedicated to exploring Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital:
- Begin at Wat Phnom, the Buddhist temple that gave birth to Phnom Penh in the 14th century.
- Visit the Royal Palace, which has served as the residence and workplace of the Norodom kings since 1870. Also, explore the Silver Pagoda, one of the country's most unique pagodas, known for its floor entirely paved with silver slabs, a gift from the French king, Napoleon III.
- Explore the Apsara Association, an art school that trains deprived children.
- Visit the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, formerly a school converted into a prison where thousands of Cambodian women were detained and tortured during the Khmer Rouge regime.
In the afternoon, your journey continues as you explore the tranquil and picturesque Silk Island, also known as Koh Dach, situated in the Mekong River near Phnom Penh. This private bike tour provides a unique opportunity to discover the island's cultural richness and scenic beauty.
As you pedal through the island's charming village, you'll encounter traditional silk artisans showcasing their centuries-old craft. Marvel at the intricate process of silk production and even try your hand at spinning silk on hand looms ingeniously made from bicycle parts.
Day 7 Phnom Penh - Siem Reap
Travel to Siem Reap, passing through Kampong Cham and Kampong Thom, and cross the peaceful Cambodian countryside with its traditional villages, rice fields, and tall latan trees that seem to stretch as far as the eye can see. Arrive in Siem Reap by the end of the day.
Spend the night at the hotel.
Day 8 Siem Reap - Angkor Temple Discovery
Day dedicated to the discovery of the mystical temples of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom – the ancient capital of the Khmer empire (9-15th century):
-
Angkor Wat temples, dedicated to Vishnu, the supreme god of Hinduism, are considered the masterpieces of Khmer art and architecture.
-
The temples of Angkor Thom form a fortified city of 10 km² that once housed a million inhabitants. Explore the immense statues at the south gate, the Elephant Terrace, the King Leper Terrace, and the famous Bayon temple, comprised of 54 gigantic towers bearing 216 faces of Avalokitésvara – the most important goddess in Buddhism.

Vantalon Family
September 21, 2023 - Following our trip to Vietnam, we would like to express our gratitude for the exceptional service provided by your agency. Every aspect of our journey was flawless.
We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our guides and drivers, who played a pivotal role in making our trip a resounding success. Beginning with Hieu and Cuong in the northern region, Duong in Halong Bay, Dao and Hieu in Dong Hoi, and finally Duc and Oyi in Hue, each of them left a lasting impression.
We want to particularly acknowledge Hieu, who adeptly adjusted our itinerary to align with our ever-evolving preferences, and Cuong, whom we fondly dubbed 'the man who arrives right on time' because he always seemed to be there even before we needed him..

The BROSSY family
Dear Sir/Madam,
On behalf of the entire family, I would like to express our gratitude for the organization of our trip to Vietnam. We were warmly welcomed everywhere we went and had three wonderful weeks.
The hotels were excellent, especially the Kiman Hotel in Hoi An with its very friendly staff and bicycles available (very convenient for getting to the beach), the hotel in Mui Ne (a beautiful and well-maintained setting), and the bungalow in Pu Long (a beautiful pool with a splendid view of the rice fields). We also greatly enjoyed our stay with Mr. Ti, where we made wonderful connections and had a fantastic evening over a delicious meal.
Regarding transportation, our taxis were very spacious, comfortable, and always punctual, making our journeys enjoyable and relaxing. Thanks to our drivers who adapted the program to our wishes (lunch breaks, beach stops). A tip for the case you host other Swiss travelers (who don't often have the opportunity to see the sea!): plan for a 1-

The GAUTIER family
Hello,
Thanks to Découverte Vietnam agency for this wonderful trip. The agency organized an excellent 14-day tour for us, from Halong Bay to the Mekong Delta, at our own pace, as a family. Unforgettable moments (from July 21st to August 4th, 2023).
Special thanks to Thom for perfectly organizing this tour down to the smallest details, which went smoothly. Communication through email and WhatsApp was very easy with immediate responses, creating complete trust.

The NOLLIER family
August 17, 2023 - Hello Thanh LE, our stay is coming to an end, and here we are in Mui Ne at a superb hotel for relaxation. It has been a wonderful time, a journey through time from north to south, accompanied by three guides we already miss. We had grown fond of them; they provided guidance and demonstrated remarkable human and professional qualities. Thank you for selecting them for us. They allowed us to get as close as possible to the local population and to experience moments we will never forget. They enriched us with their knowledge of Vietnamese culture, regardless of the region, and did so with humor, joy, kindness, and exceptional proficiency in French. We also want to acknowledge the drivers, especially during the nine days with Dac in the north, despite the language barrier.

Return to the roots of My Linh & Guy (Guadeloupe) and Christine & Thành (Belgium)
June 8, 2023 - Thank you, Chau Thom, for everything. Vietnam Discovery organized an excellent trip for us in Vietnam and Cambodia. It was a return to our roots for my sister (My-Linh) and me (Thành), as well as a discovery of our home country for my brother-in-law (Guy) and my wife (Christine).
Everything went perfectly from the first contact with the agency, whether by email or directly through WhatsApp. Thom, our contact, took care of our adventure down to the smallest details, and everything proceeded in excellent conditions.

Mrs. Martine Vanderbeck and her son
May 13, 2023 - We had a wonderful journey that will leave us with marvelous memories, both my son and I (it was his 30th birthday gift!)... and this was all thanks to you for taking care of the logistics. I want to point out that the choice of hotels was perfect, as were the guides (Duc in Vietnam and Moni in Cambodia) and the drivers who went out of their way to make us happy, not to mention the tours, which were 'must-see' given the limited time we had on site!

1. Am I exempt from the visa? If not, how can I obtain it?
You will be exempt from the Vietnamese visa if you are from countries like France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and the duration of your stay does not exceed 45 days. You just need to present a valid passport upon arrival in Vietnam and a return flight ticket reservation. Here is the list of European countries exempt from the Vietnamese visa: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway.
A visa is mandatory for those who are not mentioned above. There are three options to obtain a visa: an E-visa, issued online on the Vietnamese Immigration website; a visa on arrival; or a regular visa provided by the Vietnamese Embassy (or Consulate) in your country. We recommend choosing the E-visa or visa on arrival as they are easier to obtain and less expensive. Please contact us for more information on visa procedures.
