Phu Quoc National Park covers an area of over 31,000 hectares, spanning six communes and is home to approximately 1,400 plant species and nearly 500 animal species. This place proudly features three distinct ecosystems, which is ideal for forest travel enthusiasts.

Currently, there are four trekking routes with varying lengths and difficulty levels for visitors to choose from. Among them, the longest route spans up to 9 km and is often conquered by professional adventurers on weekends. Let's explore with Kampa Tour now!

1. Suoi Tien Trekking Route

The Suoi Tien trek is about 4 km long, and it takes approximately 3 hours to complete. The trail has different paths for going and returning, with three rest stops along the way. This route is relatively easy, not too steep, and suitable for beginners and even children.

  • Highlight activities:

Don't miss the chance to experience filtering stream water through layers of rocks and cotton to make it safe for drinking. Suoi Tien is fed by natural underground springs deep in the forest, so the water is incredibly fresh and pure.

Out of all the trekking routes in Phu Quoc Forest, Suoi Tien is the only one that allows camping and campfires. It’s a favorite spot for visitors to enjoy a night under the stars, where they can light a fire to cook, use a portable lamp for late-night chats, and even catch glimpses of wildlife.

💡 Travel tips:

  • Visitors should bring water, fruits, and light snacks for energy.
  • The path to the stream is slippery and steep in places, so wear shoes with good grip and move slowly.

2. Phu Quoc National Park Core Area (monotypic forest)

This 4 km trekking route is more difficult, with hikers crossing six streams on wet, slippery paths. A walking stick is advised for safety. Along the way, you’ll see diverse plants, large vines hanging like swings, and old trees over 100 years old, adding to the forest’s charm.

  • Highlight activities:

The best time to trek this route is during the dry season, from October to April, when there’s less rain, the streams are still full of water, and the greenery is vibrant.

This short and easy trek doesn’t take much effort, giving you plenty of time to soak in the scenery and enjoy picking and tasting wild fruits like sim and bứa (similar to mangosteen), as well as mushrooms. The types of fruits and leaves you’ll find depend on the season, making every trip a little different!

💡 Travel tips:

  • If you encounter a snake, stay calm and avoid trying to chase it away, as this may cause it to attack or get injured. Experienced guides will assist in handling the situation.
  • During the rainy season, the streams rise and flow rapidly. Without bridges to cross, accidents can easily occur.

3. Bat Cave Trekking Route - Tien Son Peak

Bat Cave, located within Phu Quoc National Park, features limestone formations millions of years old and is home to over a thousand bats. The 3 km trek from the main road is challenging, with dimly lit paths requiring a flashlight. An interesting experience here is the surprise of bats flying overhead and listening to the soft sound of underground water flowing through the cave.

  • Highlight activities:

Besides, visitors often spend a lot of time exploring the Bat Cave, as the deeper they go, the more fascinating the strange-shaped stalactites become. The cave floor is a dry streambed, with many smooth stones in unusual shapes.

Leaving the cave, the trail leads to the peak of Tien Son. From the summit, visitors can see the entire national park, with lush green forests and open space. Trekking groups often set up hammocks, eat, and relax here.

💡 Travel tips:
Phu Quoc's forests have complex terrain, so visitors should avoid exploring alone to prevent getting lost. It's best to have a guide for directions, information, and a porter for food and luggage assistance if needed.

4. Thay Tu Waterfall Trekking Route

This is the longest trekking route in Phu Quoc National Park, about 9 km long. Visitors will experience hiking, stream crossings, with several breaks for rest, meals, and sightseeing.

  • Highlight activities:

The highlight of this route is Thay Tu Waterfall, about 5 meters high, with fresh water year-round. Visitors can rest on large rock formations around the waterfall and take photos at the beautiful sinkholes.

💡 Travel tips:
The path to this waterfall is not too difficult. During the rainy season, visitors can still trek, but heavy rain may limit the scenic views.

A day trek in Phu Quoc's forest is a great experience for everyone. To fully enjoy the trails, it's a good idea to get in shape before your trip. Beginners should start with shorter routes. The cost for a day trek is 1.2 million VND per person, including transportation, a guide, and meals.
