The first appearance of this ship dates back to December 26, 2023, when locals spotted the silhouette of its hull emerging from the sand.
The ship is made from local wood, particularly "bằng lăng" and "kiền kiền", commonly used in Southeast Asia, as well as pine from China.

The vessel is also protected by a sealing coat, which helps preserve its integrity against the intrusion of salty water.
In 2024, experts from the Hoi An Heritage Conservation Center, in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City, began researching this discovery.
According to initial analyses, the ship may date from the late 14th to the 16th century, although further tests are needed to confirm this hypothesis.

The ship's assembly, using metal fastenings, as well as the presence of several well-preserved deck elements, makes it a discovery of great historical value.
The holes for the sail ropes are still visible, demonstrating the ingenuity of its construction.
Scientists believe it could be considered a true "maritime treasure" due to its nearly intact state of preservation.
