The journey from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng covers 190 km, while the journey from Vang Vieng to Vientiane is 130 km. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half to reach Vang Vieng from these destinations.

3. When Are the Best Times to Visit Vang Vieng?

The best time to visit Vang Vieng is from November to early March, which is characterized by dry weather conditions and particularly pleasant temperatures, providing an ideal setting for outdoor activities.

From March to June, temperatures rise rapidly, leading to periods of intense heat in the region.

Finally, from July to October, the rainy season sets in with showers, which can make access to some caves and activities completely impractical. It is not advisable to visit Vang Vieng during this period due to heavy rainfall or even torrential rains.

Bring a flashlight before heading out to explore the splendid Tham Poukham Cave. Walk through the cavity in search of the small temple and the reclining Buddha. The play of light at the entrance to the chasm is magnificent and you will be able to observe impressive stalactites and stalagmites.
