Top 8 Cheapest Asian Destinations for the Summer of 2024
Are you looking for exotic destinations in Asia without emptying your wallet? The digital travel platform Agoda recently revealed the tourist destinations with the cheapest accommodations on average. Among the most affordable destinations, there are up to 8 places in Asia. Can you guess which places will be on this list? There may be some of your favorite destinations! Let's explore the 8 cheapest destinations in Asia for this summer.
1. Udon Thani, Thailand
Average room price: 1,022 THB (~ 28 USD)
On the verge of the vacation-laden months of April and May, Agoda shares the 8 most popular tourist destinations in Asia to get Agoda's excellent value offers. In Thailand, Udon Thani is the most affordable tourist destination, with an average room rate of 1.022 THB (~ 28 USD). Udon Thani snatches the title from Khon Kaen, who topped the ranking of cheaper destinations a year ago.
According to the Tourist Office of Thailand, this city is famous for its archaeological wonders. Ban Chiang is the most prominent and one of the places with the earliest appearance of humanity. Visitors here find almost no difficulties due to the kindness and simplicity of the locals.
In the picture is the red lotus lake (Talay Bua Daeng); it is also called Nong Han Kumphawapi, a natural tourist spot 45 km southeast of Udon Thani. The best way to enjoy this show is on board one of the boats that sail on the lake, and the best hours are the first of the morning when the flowers are open.
In addition, visitors should also visit the Ban Chiang National Museum, whose exhibitions in English explain the importance of ceramics and its revelations about prehistoric culture in this part of the world.
Pierre Honne, Senior Country Director for Thailand at Agoda, shared: "With many throughout Asia looking forward to the next public vacations such as Songkran, Hari Raya, and Golden Week, April and May are a good time to plan a vacation."

Surabaya in Indonesia ranks second with an average room price of approximately 39 USD. Agoda describes this port city as a gem that combines attractions for visitors, from ancient architecture to skyscrapers with a futuristic touch.
Surabaya promises a rich cultural experience thanks to its combination of Javanese, Chinese, and Arab influences. Don't miss the Pasar Atom market, with its wide range of traditional handicrafts, and be sure to try culinary delights such as Lontong Balap and Sate Klopo.
3. Hue, Vietnam
Average room price: 1,569 THB (~ 43 USD)
According to Agoda, numerous important events and festivals in April and May attract visitors to Asia. During this period of high demand, the city of Hue has the best room rates in Vietnam, ranking third in Asia, with an average of around 43 USD per night. Last year, Ninh Binh topped the list.
The city is famous for its historical monuments, including the Imperial City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its majestic palaces and temples.
4. Kuching, Malaysia
Average room price: 1,788 THB (~ 49 USD)
In fourth place on the list is Kuching, the capital of the state of Sarawak in Malaysia, with an average room price of around 49 USD. The Leave Your Daily Hell blogger visited this place in 2022 and mentioned that Kuching provides a sense of tranquility and is one of those "underrated" cities.
The city is located on the island of Borneo, along the Sarawak River. Kuching is an art and craft center, with the Main Bazaar, Carpenter Street, and the Sunday Market as the best options to discover local crafts and souvenirs.
Nature enthusiasts won't want to miss a visit to the nearby Bako National Park, which has an incredible combination of rainforests, wildlife, and beaches.
5. Iloilo, Philippines
Average room price: 1,818 THB (~ 50 USD)
Iloilo, a city in the Philippines, ranks fifth with an average room price of around 50 USD. Thanks to its central location, Iloilo is often called "The heart of the country." The description is adequate thanks to more than just the central location: The group of nearby islands called "Island of Giants" will surely steal the heart of any visitor. Impressive beaches, hidden lagoons, and fresh seafood are on hold.
6. Bengaluru, India
Average room price: 2000 THB (~ 55 USD)
Bengaluru, the "Silicon Valley of India," ranks sixth with an average room cost of around 55 USD.
A place to experience both the past and the future of India. While the city's innovative spirit influences the local culture, much history is worth visiting, such as the majestic Bangalore Palace or the Nandi Temple of the 16th century.
Another reason to place Bengaluru at the top of the list of places to visit is the renowned culinary scene with abundant delicacies from South India.
7. Narita, Japan
Average room price: 2,582 THB (~ 71 USD)
Narita in Japan is ranked seventh, with an average room cost of around $71. An Agoda representative points out that Narita has many beautiful characteristics and a strong Japanese influence, including Shinshoji Temple and Naritasan Omotesando Street, which are traditional and have the beauty of cherry blossoms during the season.
