It surpassed formidable competitors like Fuji-Hakone-Izu (Japan), Chitwan (Nepal), Minnieriya (Sri Lanka), Kinabalu and Taman Negara (Malaysia), and Cát Tiên (Vietnam). Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, director of Cuc Phuong National Park, stated: “This award is not only an immense encouragement for us, but also a recognition from both the national and international community of the tireless efforts of generations of Cuc Phuong staff over the past 60 years, as well as the sacrifices and contributions of local communities, experts, scientists, and millions of visitors.”
With its 22,408 hectares, Cuc Phuong National Park is renowned for its diverse tropical rainforest ecosystem, making it one of the richest biodiversity areas in Vietnam. A true natural museum, it preserves traces of life from prehistoric times to the present day. This award highlights the appeal of ecotourism and boosts Vietnam’s forestry sector in both nature conservation and sustainable green economic development.
In addition to Cuc Phuong National Park, several other Vietnamese sites were recognized this year. Ha Giang was named Asia’s Leading Regional Cultural Tourism Destination, showcasing its commitment to cultural preservation and sustainable tourism. Hoi An - Quang Nam retained its title as Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination for the fifth consecutive year. Hanoi was awarded Asia's Leading Short Break Destination and Asia's Leading City Destination for the third consecutive year. Finally, Ho Chi Minh City stood out in two categories: Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination, and Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination, a title previously held by Hanoi in 2023.
