Vietnam experiences a diverse climate from north to south, owing to its varied topography and the country's considerable length (2000 km from north to south). When one region is humid, cold, or rainy, the other can be pleasantly sunny in contrast. Based on our experience, the optimal time to visit Vietnam is from October to April.

Within this timeframe, the best months are October to November and March to May. During these periods, the weather remains pleasant, and, additionally, they are the least rainy months of the year in Vietnam. While July and August can be a bit hot (30-35 degrees Celsius), Halong Bay typically enjoys sunny weather. You'll also have the opportunity to witness the region adorned with endless terraced green or yellow rice fields.

Regarding the southern region, despite it being the rainy season, precipitation usually lasts for only an hour or two each day, with the rest of the day being sunny. If you already have a specific timeframe in mind for your trip (winter, summer, etc.), please inform us, and we can provide guidance on the most favorable months.

It is entirely possible to add an extension to Cambodia or Laos to this trip, given the proximity of these two countries to Vietnam. From the North, you can travel to Laos by land or air. From the South, you can navigate up the Mekong River by boat to reach Cambodia. However, it will be necessary to extend the duration of the trip by at least an additional 3 to 5 days. 15 days is the ideal duration to explore Vietnam's must-visit sites without rushing. Such a timeframe will allow you to appreciate some of the country's most beautiful and iconic landscapes, including those of Halong Bay, Tam Coc, the stunning mountains and terraced rice fields inhabited by various ethnic minorities, as well as the lush Mekong Delta.

You are exempt from needing a visa for Vietnam if you are from countries like the UK, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada, provided your stay does not exceed 45 days. You only need to present a valid passport and a confirmed return flight ticket upon arrival in Vietnam. Here’s a list of visa-exempt countries: the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and select European countries like France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Scandinavian nations.

For those who do not qualify for visa exemption, a visa is mandatory. You have three options to obtain a visa: an E-visa, issued online through the Vietnamese Immigration website; a visa on arrival (available only when applying through an authorized travel agency); or a visa through the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in your country. We recommend the E-visa or visa on arrival for ease and affordability.

You will be traveling with Vietnam Airlines or Bamboo Airways, the two best airlines in the country. We do not offer low-cost airlines to ensure a smooth experience on-site.

Regarding baggage, you will have 7 to 12 kilograms of carry-on luggage and 20 to 23 kilograms of checked baggage, depending on the chosen airline. Each extra kilogram will cost you from 3 to 5 USD, payable directly during your check-in.
