Lo Lo Chai: Escape to the Vietnamese Village Ranked Among the World’s Best in 2025
Lo Lo Chai Village, home to dozens of century-old houses surrounded by stone walls, is one of two Vietnamese villages recognized on October 17 by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as one of the “Best Tourism Villages in the World 2025.” Discover the unique charm of this village nestled in the mountains of northern Vietnam.

Lo Lo Chai Village in Ha Giang (now part of Tuyen Quang following the recent provincial merger in Vietnam) is located near the northernmost point of the country, about 1.5 kilometers from the famous Lung Cu Flag Tower.

This Lo Lo ethnic village preserves many cultural traditions, particularly through its earthen houses passed down from generation to generation.

Each household maintains a small vegetable garden to meet daily needs. Residents mainly cultivate rice and corn, along with raising livestock and poultry as additional sources of income.

At the beginning of 2022, Lo Lo Chai was recognized as a “Cultural and Tourism Village.” For nearly two years now, local authorities and residents have been working to develop and promote a more professional tourism model, attracting an increasing number of visitors.

In the early morning or at dusk, a soft white mist settles over the entire village, wrapping it in a cool and mysterious atmosphere.

The traditional tiled-roof houses with yellow walls glow under the morning sunlight, revealing their timeless charm.

At the end of the year, plum and peach blossoms bloom early along the village paths.

The courtyard of the Cultural House serves as a venue for community activities, artistic performances, communal meals, and welcoming visitors. It also provides a playground for the village children.

Travelers who visit Lo Lo Chai often return, captivated by its pleasant climate, picturesque scenery, the warmth of its people, and the richness of its traditional culture.
