1. Vietnam weather in January

• The North

In Northern Vietnam, January brings cold and fog. The average temperature is around 18°C, with minimal precipitation, but the morning is often marked by fog. Particularly in the Northeast, a region famous for its rice terraces and spectacular mountains, the temperature in some areas is below 17°C in January. Mountain roads can be icy or very wet, increasing the risk of slipping, especially at altitude.

Keep in mind that conditions are cold, so it is essential to equip yourself with appropriate clothing for your trip.

• The Central Vietnam

Central Vietnam also experiences cool temperatures at this time, with minimums around 19 to 21 degrees Celsius. In general, precipitation can vary from one year to the next, from light to heavy, without there being any regularity. However, the rest of the period is generally sunny and pleasant, so you can still travel to popular destinations like Hoi An, Hue & Da Nang.

• Hanoi

Your trip to northern Vietnam would not be complete without a visit to the ancient capital, Hanoi . In January, the days are cool, even a little cold, with less sunshine, but this does not hinder your visiting activities. You can take pedicab rides through the old neighborhoods to immerse yourself in the varied culture of the capital, all the more charming under the morning fog or the street lights in the evening. • Hue

In January, the Mekong Delta is very colorful due to its proximity to the Tet festival. This is the time when farmers harvest flowers to sell them during Tet. The atmosphere is very lively, especially at the floating markets. When visiting this region, a boat ride along the winding canals, in the shade of coconut trees, offers a peaceful and unforgettable experience.

• Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc, nicknamed the "Emerald Pearl" in the Gulf of Thailand, is famous for its crystal clear jade waters. This island is a popular destination for seaside holidays, offering superb white sand beaches lined with coconut trees, such as Bai Sao, Bai Dai, Ganh Dau, among others.
